Apple Macbook Pro have been dominating the market for powerful and sleek, design laptops, as Apple has dominated the smart phone and tablet world. But as with the other markets, Apple´s competitors are catching up and even overtaking them in innovation, power and design. Microsoft recently launched the tablet/laptop bomb Surface Book. Asus has for years copied Apples smart looks with their Zenbooks. And Dell has packed their XPS with great graphics. Who to choose?

Apple surprisingly launced new versions of the Macbook Pros in May 2015 only two months after their previous update. If you want to play new games on it, you are probably not satisfied with the integrated graphics and have go for the  top 15 inch model. This is what you get:

Macbook Pro, $2499

  • Storage: 512 GB SSD
  • Memory: 6GB
  • GPU: Intel Iris Pro Graphics + AMD Radeon R9 M370X
  • Screen: 15 inch : 2880 x 1800 resolution

ASUS Zenbook pro, $1499

  • Storage: 512 GB SSD
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Screen: 15 inch, 3840×2160, touch

Microsoft Surface Book, $1899

  • Storage: 256GB SSD (128GB, 512GB, or 1TB SSD)
  • Memory: 8 GB (16 GB)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce
  • Screen: 13,5″, 3000×2000, touch

ASUS definately got the upper hand over the Macbook Pro allready. That is if you are not bound by OSX, Time Capsule or iCloud. Toshiba, HP, Samsung and Dell all have models trying to compete with Macbook Pro but has so far failed on either design, quality or price to be a better option. But then enters Microsoft. Definitely more costly than the Zenbook pro, but it has two major selling points. It is smaller, and is a laptop and tablet i one. You get an Ipad Pro and and Macbook Pro in the same package for almost half the price.

One to watch: Dell has just launced their new XPS series. If they can get the prices down, they could be a real altnernative to Macbook Pro.
