So you have a gigantic phone, but the keyboard still fills up most of the screen leaving little room for the text. Or you are short sighted and would love to have even bigger letters. There is a simple solution to increase or decrease the text size on your Samsung.
The standard text size of the Galaxy Note is simply not very convenient. And it is probably worse on the smaller Galaxy S-line phones. There is no obvious way to change the layout. From out of nowhere comes the volume control button to the rescue.
You know the annoying long bar on the side of your phone? The one you have to hammer each time you open a new app to get the volume down, even though you turned down the general volume on your home screen. Well it turns out that the volume up and volume down changes to zoom in and zoom out when you are in the messaging app.
Very convenient if your almost blind grandmother often uses your phone for messages. Pretty useless for anything else. Especially since this feature only works in messaging, not emails, notes or the web browser. But you really should use this button once to decrease the text size as much as possible to get room for more lines of text. You will see an increase in the input screen and the thread.
This works on Galaxy Note II with Android 4.3 and it probably works on Galaxy Note III and Galaxy S3, S4, S5 an any other Samsung phone too with a volume bar.
